Aerialworx Innovation is an advanced engineering and research division focused on the development of next-generation unmanned and autonomous aerial systems. By integrating multidisciplinary expertise across aerospace engineering, electronics, software development and advanced manufacturing, we support industry and defence partners in rapidly developing and deploying innovative UAV capabilities.
Our mission is to deliver world-class expertise in unmanned systems, enabling clients to rapidly research, develop and deploy innovative autonomous solutions. By combining deep engineering knowledge with agile development processes, we translate operational requirements into fully functional prototypes within exceptionally short timeframes.
Established in 2012 by Dr. Stefanie Williams, Aerialworx stands as one of the pioneering drone operators in the UK, now recognised as a hub of expertise and innovation in UAV Research & Development. For more than a decade, Aerialworx has been a frontrunner in the application of drones within the realms of film and television production. Dr. Stefanie Williams, the founder, holds a PhD in Software Engineering and boasts a diverse range of interests, from drones, flying, sailing, kite surfing, and motorbikes to scuba diving and photography. Her journey in aviation commenced at the age of 12, evolving into competition flying at 16. The inception of Aerialworx can be traced back to her very first drone assignment, filming Bear Grylls atop Snowdon.
Presently, Aerialworx extends its services nationwide, operating from MSParc, Anglesey. In 2021, Aerialworx Innovation was established, serving as a centre of excellence for drone design, construction, and testing. The company maintains a fleet of 55+ drones, spanning from small agile drones to large robust heavy lifters. Their portfolio encompasses the creation of over 18 drones for clients including Qinetiq, Babcock and Royal Navy.
The Aerialworx team consists of industry professionals, researchers, and academics, collectively amassing an unparalleled wealth of experience. Their expertise spans various domains, including Product Design, Computer-Aided Design, Manufacturing, Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Software Engineering, with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The team also boasts extensive knowledge in Aviation and Avionics Engineering.
Through strategic partnerships with esteemed institutions including MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Boston, USA and locally Bangor University, Salford University and Liverpool John Moores University, Aerialworx gains access and insight into cutting-edge resources and expertise, enabling them to tackle present challenges and forecast future requirements effectively.
